Got to see Stan Lee in Pittsburgh eating at a bar near the con. That’s pretty cool, right? My buddy Phil had to wait in line the next day for two and a half hours to see him. Ha, sucker. Here’s a few picks from the con:
If anyone is going to be in Hickory on May 28th, I’ll be set up with a booth at the Hickory con. Look for me somewhere in the midst of the Star Wars 501st fleet. http://www.hickorycon.com/
Let’s see, what else? Oh, if any of you remember the last two years of Fanaticon in Asheville it’s been replaced by a new con. Geekout, hosted by Zapow, will be showing my Dragin work for me. Zapow is also kind enough to take my work to Heroes Con in Charlotte this year. http://carolinaghostbusters.com/2012/05/10/geekout-2012-this-weekend-in-asheville-nc/
Lot’s more in the works through the Cartoonist Society (SECNCS) teaming up with Zapow. I’ll keep you posted!
This will be my third time heading to Pittsburg for the con. Each year I make big plans for the next con. I think I did pretty good accomplishing half of that. Go me! Oh, yeah, someone said a famous guy named Stan Lee was attending.

Been an eventful couple of months in Dragin’s corner. Dragin began showing work at Zapow Gallery in Asheville, NC at the beginning of February. I’m amazed at how many activities, parties, and workshops are already in the works for the next couple of months. Zapow even has connections to the southeast chapter of the National Cartoonist Society (SECNCS). They hosted us recently to display work and do drawings for the public to raise money for the Milt Gross Fund, a branch of the SECNCS.
Huge thanks to Chris Sparks for helping me be part of Team Cul de Sac, a tribute to Richard Thompson who won the Reuben award last year for his strip Cul de Sac. Richard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and through the Michael J. Fox Foundation a call went out to artists to share their work and the influence Cul De Sac has had.

Despite all odds Phil Juliano (of Best in Show) and I will be attending Pittscon in April again this year. The Pittsburgh con is the largest comic convention I’ve been able to be part of so far.

Whew! I better go draw some comics (yeah, I still do those!)
Gearing up for this year’s Fanaticon. This is the second year Asheville has had a comic convention. I didn’t have the privilege of going last year so I hope this year will be the first of many. If you’re in the area on May 21 my buddy Phil Juliano of Best in Show and I will be set up with a booth around Pack Square downtown. Hope to see you there!
Just got back from the comic con in Pittsburg (Yeah, a week ago! Don’t judge, me got tired!). This was my second year attending and I finally solidified my spot as a regular. Apparently it only takes two appearances to do that. I want to take a second to plug my buddy and fellow cartoonist Phil, who also lives in Asheville. We’ve been attending cons, breweries, and have drawn side by side for the past three years. He is also a member of the National Cartoonist Society (NCS). Check him out at http://bestinshowcomic.com/wordpress/
Thanks also to Phil for taking this pic of my booth at Pittsburg:
